Description:
To maintain a high level of clinical practice by ensuring engagement in clinical sessions, ensuring high technical and professional standards at all times. To manage own caseload and clinical priorities according to agreed protocols, working practices and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). To demonstrate and maintain a good understanding of IRMER 2017 & IRR 2017 and ensure the correct application of radiation safety measures in CT as well as ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements with particular regard to health and safety legislation, procedures and Trust policy. With the Radiology Managers and other senior staff, contribute to the development of evidence-based practice in CT including development and review of evidence-based imaging protocols, to undertake regular audit to evidence service evaluation.
To have the responsibility for ensuring that imaging procedures are carried out in accordance with mandatory departmental systems of work and protocols and contribute towards the Trust-wide radiation policies. To assess each patient and examination request to produce the correct course of action for examination, justification and diagnosis. To take the lead in advising and educating other radiographers in the justification and protocolling processes. To work without supervision performing a full range of procedures as determined by departmental protocols and to adapt technique to the condition of the patient and level of co-operation.
To initiate and advise on follow-up action with patients where appropriate. To utilise expert knowledge and skills to provide specialist advice to other members of the multidisciplinary team. Provide a seamless, high-quality service from referral through to authorisation, imaging / intervention and reporting. To actively develop high standards of patient care in self and others, ensuring Trust policies and protocols are widely communicated and are implemented e.g., infection control.
To assist in the development of quality assurance programmes, working closely with the dose optimisation group. Including departmental audit. To encourage, motivate and facilitate staff contributions to audit and QA. To undertake additional areas of responsibility as delegated by the Radiography Services Manager
