Description:

The CT Tech 3 arranges patients for Computed Tomography examinations. Produces CT images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Ensures patient safety by using pre-established imaging protocols, and screens patients for safe administration of contrast media. Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and all functions of the job. Provides complete pre and post education to patients and family. Able to evaluate competency level of others as preceptor. Leads and directs the work of others. Reports to Supervisor or Manager.

  • Clinical skills
  • Exhibits working knowledge of all CT equipment and proceedures.
  • Refers to physician’s orders/chart for any special instructions that may be indicated.
  • Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history.
  • Explains proceedure completely to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety.
  • Performs all procedures in an efficient and timely manner without comprimising quality or the mission statement.
  • Coordinates CT schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
  • Patient/General Safety
  • Corrects and reports accidents, incidents and safety hazards.
  • Uses PPE (personal protective equipment) when appropriate.
  • Is aware of potential chemical hazards and how to acces MSDS information.
  • Uses good body mechanics when moving patients.
  • Adheres to infection control practices.
  • Radiation safety
  • Ask females of child bearing age if they may be pregnant.
  • Uses proper Radiation shielding for pediatric patients and patients in child bearing age.
  • Routinely wears film badge to monitor Radiation exposure.
  • Complete Annual Madate Radiation Safety
  • Wears proper Radiation protection equipment while doing proceedures
  • Equipment Maintenance
  • Routinely performs proper tube warm-up for all x-ray equipment
  • Reports all equipment problems to chief technologist and places service call through call center
  • Documentation/Communication
  • Complete Exam Data Entry fields on all exams
  • Documents all pertinent information, i.e., patient history, tech initials,
  • other duties as assigned
  • Is availible to work a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24 hour coverage of the CT Department
  • Assist in other areas of the department as work load permits
  • Keeps areas well stocked at all times
  • Assist in effectively Cross-Training staff
  • Consistently performs 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values, Service and Quality.
  • 5 Years
  • Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technologist Program
  • License & Cert - Current State License , American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT (R) or Registry Eligible Computed Tomography, CT, Basic Life Support, BLS - HCP
