The Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences (CSAS) is a Paideia- themed magnet school that serves grades K-12, with our upper school serving grades 6-12. We enroll students from across Hamilton County, and this diversity allows our students to experience the myriad perspectives in the workforce and in life. Information Technology careers involve the design, development, support and management of hardware, software, multimedia and systems integration services. The IT industry is a dynamic and entrepreneurial working environment that has a revolutionary impact on the economy and society. Coding courses are intended to teach students the basics of computer programming. Courses place emphasis on practicing standard programming techniques and learning the logic tools and methods typically used by programmers to create simple computer applications.
Responsibilities

Plan, deliver and assess effective instruction that is tightly aligned with State standards.

  • Designs lessons based on best practices with clear learning targets and measurable goals aligned with State standards and/or unit outcomes. Frequently plans collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Conveys high expectations while using multiple effective strategies, materials, and classroom practices that involve and motivate students while differentiating instruction to meet students’ needs.
  • Uses colleagues and own self-reflection on instructional practice to continually improve instruction.

Classroom Management & Relationships:

  • Fosters a well-structured and engaging learning environment by utilizing effective classroom procedures and routines while showing caring, respect, and fairness for all students.

Family & Community:

  • Consistently develops strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children.
  • Provides opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Actively seeks out opportunities to collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders in order to improve teaching & learning.
  • Reflects on own instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.

We are seeking teaching candidates who are:

Qualifications

Knowledge/Education/Experience:

  • Associate’s or above in endorsement area.
  • Two years of full time related work experience out of the past eight years.
  • Qualifying Area/Occupations: web page designer, host web manager, web master, computer networking, network designer, computer maintenance, computer engineer, cable technician, telecommunication technician, computer system analysis, computer programmer, software developer, quality assurance software developer, software architect , technology business analyst, it project manager, business intelligence developer, business analyst, information technology systems manager, computer support specialist
  • Industry Certification: A+ or Net Plus or CIW or CISCO
  • Pathway Options: Bachelor’s degree in endorsement area and industry certification
  • Occupational Teaching License with endorsement: (740) Information Technology or (742) Programming OR
  • An Academic Teaching License with one of the following endorsements:

(152) Business Education or (173) Computer Science

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, parents, and community members.
  • Demonstrate excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.

Compensation
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
This position may be eligible for an increase in total compensation. The Differentiated Compensation Plan applies to designated schools and hard-to-staff positions.
