Description:
The CIS-Autism works in collaboration with the UCP Consortium Education Leadership Team, UCP Administrators and educators and Behavior Team. The objective is to develop the capacity of instructional leaders and educators in delivering, promoting, and supporting effective and innovative instruction to support students with autism and other behavior disabilities to increase academic achievement for each student. Strong previous experience working in a classroom for students with autism required as well as experience supporting teachers/students and curriculum knowledge.
This is an 11 month position.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Valid Florida teaching certificate
- ESE certification. Prefer Autism Endorsement
- Bachelor’s degree in content area; Master’s degree preferred.
- Reading Endorsed
- CIS Blue Card Strongly preferred
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- 3-5 years teaching in a K-12 self-contained Autism unit with demonstrated positive academic and behavior results.
- Experience in a leadership role and experience in curriculum and assessment development.
- Strong understanding of behavior strategies/demonstrated effective use of behavior strategies
- Knowledge of current research, procedures and best practices in Autism best practices and instruction.
- Knowledge of techniques for facilitating groups of adult learners as well as individuals with strong presentation skills and experience in developing and presenting professional development sessions.
- Has experience with leading MTSS processes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience to successfully to work collaboratively with others.
- Strong technology skills using various programs
Responsibilities:
- Develop and support the implementation of a consortium plan for innovative Autism/ESE Behavior Classrooms.
- Develop and implement quality, research-based professional development programs for students with autism for campus leadership, faculty, and staff.
- Provide technical assistance and support to teachers and campus administrators by interpreting and analyzing student achievement data, assisting with program planning, and providing feedback concerning math/science curriculum implementation.
- Conducts classroom observations to help identify strengths and areas of growth related to instruction and program implementation using UCPs instructional coaching cycle.
- Works alongside participating teachers, coaches, teacher leaders and principals modeling effective classroom practices, observing instruction, and facilitating reflection to promote student learning.
- Provides support and training in standards-based lesson planning.
- Assists in collaboration of curriculum writing in ELA/Writing.
- Make recommendations on Autism curricula initiatives/purchases.
- Assist with grant writing/reporting as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
