We are looking for:
Customer & Plant Technician
As the Customer & Plant Technician Ireland, South West you will be part of the Customer Engineering & Production team . You will be the front-line face for our customers, so it is key that you present a professional, confident outlook at all times.
LOCATION: Limerick, flexibility to support a home-based candidate
EDUCATION: Relevant academic qualifications in an Electromechanical / Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical / Maintenance field
EXPERIENCE: Experience of working to written schemes of examination to carry out PSSR inspections on pressure systems; a problem-solver and a great communicator; flexibility

As the Customer & Plant Technician you will be part of an existing technician covering a diverse customer base primarily in the South West region.
Your work will be planned by a team in Worcester, UK, with work activities being communicated daily through a company software platform loaded onto a Windows-based tablet.
Supporting South West region will require an amount of driving and the scheduling team will have the intention of strategically coordinating planned maintenance campaign work in areas which will involve some overnight stays to reduce the amount of travel required. Reactive maintenance may require travel and possibly overnight stay at short notice. Larger installations when they occur will be forward planned and may also need overnight stays, but occurrences of overnight stays are expected to be minimal.
You will be working mainly at customer sites from a fully stocked company supplied medium sized service van which has a custom racking system holding parts, hand and power tools and specialist installation and test equipment to allow you to complete your jobs.

As the Customer & Plant Technician, you will

  • Install and maintain
  • Cryogenic storage vessels ranging holding liquid nitrogen, argon, oxygen and also liquid carbon dioxide which will connect to systems typically incorporating:
  • Pipelines.
  • Ambient and electrical vaporizers.
  • Pressure, flow, level and temperature control instrumentation.
  • Gas cylinders and cylinder packs as backups and primary supply.
  • Any other allied equipment supplied and / or maintained by Air Products Customer Engineering such as:
  • Small and large-scale generators.
  • Leisure soft drink and beer dispense equipment.
  • Food packaging and processing machines.
  • Biomedical storage freezers and control systems.
  • Cryo chambers/pods and cryo saunas.
  • Ensure that all plant electrical facilities are maintained to a safe and serviceable condition, so that they can consistently attain their performance targets
  • Work with plant manager to ensure compliance to site statutory, mechanical integrity & preventative maintenance programs.
  • Work with plant manager & maintenance support manager (MSM) to ensure relevant & optimal planned maintenance programs.
  • Work with technical staff and plant management to solve plant and equipment problems as they arise in the safest & most effective way.

As the Customer and Plant Technician, you already are or have:

  • Relevant academic qualifications in an Electromechanical / Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical / Maintenance field
  • Experience of working to written schemes of examination to carry out PSSR inspections on pressure systems
  • Having current or previous PSSR inspector status would be highly advantageous.
  • A strong ability to work on your own initiative allowing you to problem solve and diagnose equipment and system faults relating to pressure and flow.
  • Capacity to read layout drawings and system schematics (P&ID’s).
  • A good driving record
  • Confidence and interpersonal skills when dealing with customers.

We will provide a custom training program for the Maintenance Technician role which is typically run from our CryoEase centre of excellence offices in Worcester.
Normal working hours are 40 per week Monday to Friday, but flexibility is important as to meet the needs of the business this role may involve working outside normal hours (rarely on weekends unless supporting occasional customer shutdowns for maintenance) where overtime rates are paid.
