At Continental, we are building a world class customs organization on group level. As Customs Compliance Manager & Business Partner Tires USMCA you will be a key contributor to the development and execution of Continental`s customs strategies in the North American region including the US, Mexico and Canada. While safeguarding the necessary level of compliance, you focus on introducing new ways of working and measures transforming the Customs setup in the USMCA region into a trusted and proactive function adding value to the business.
This role will manage, coach and lead a small team.
As an integral member of the Group Customs team, the Customs Compliance Manager & Business Partner will oversee customs matters within the US, Mexico and Canada to offer compliant solutions in a manner that is consistent with Continental Group policies. This person will liaise with U.S. and Canada customs officers, trade vendors, external customers, and internal business groups on trade-related import and export activities. The Manager will support the company’s global trade growth and regulatory compliance perspective and collaborate with various Group Functions and Group Sector colleagues to foster compliance within global trade mitigating the company’s risk.
The Customs Compliance Manager & Business Partner is assuming joint responsibility with peers for ensuring Import and Export regulatory trade compliance for the U.S. and Canada.

Responsibilities:

Manage a robust trade compliance program & strategy
Manage SAP GTS, OCR, ACE, and other trade compliance software as applicable
Ensure compliance for determination of HS Codes (harmonized tariff codes) and issuance of certificates of origin for all products made in North America.
Manage the import/export activities for the U.S. and Canada Markets with oversight of Mexico
Oversee Free Trade Programs (FTA) within the region, including but not limited to USMCA, MX-EU, CETA, etc.
Liaise with regulatory agencies i.e. U.S. Customs (CBP), Department of Commerce (DOC), International Trade Commission (ITC), etc. as it relates to verification, audits, licensing etc.
Prepare official responses to inquiries from regulatory agencies including but not limited to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), United States International Trade Commission (USITC), Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) etc.
Cross-functional support as necessary with Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, Purchasing, Sales and Operations
Manage performance of brokers and freight forwarders through KPIs and periodic performance evaluations/reviews, with the goal of driving improvement in performance to minimize compliance-related fines
Design and Carry out an ongoing training program for import/export awareness for Plant and Division staff
