A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US
The People, Governance, Parliamentary and Communication Division supports the department to achieve its strategic outcomes by providing a range of client focused advice and essential services. This includes work by the Human Resources and Property Branch to build and sustain a workplace culture of inclusivity, integrity and professionalism, reflective of a modern and responsive public service.
The Capability and Culture section are responsible for designing and implementing a range of culture and workforce strategies which support our staff across their career lifecycle.
THE OPPORTUNITIES WE HAVE AVAILABLE
We are currently seeking to fill multiple current and expected APS Level 5 and APS Level 6 vacancies across the Capability and Culture section. Within these roles you will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of a number of the section’s current projects and initiatives.
A merit pool may be established for a period of 12 months from the date of this advertisement as a result of the selection process.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:
- Citizenship: To be eligible for employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications, applicants must be an Australian citizen. Only in exceptional circumstances will the department consider waiving this requirement.
- Health Assessment: The preferred applicant may be required to undergo a medical examination conducted by the department’s preferred medical provider.
- Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at Baseline Vetting Level. You must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. You must have lived in Australia, or have a checkable background, for at least the preceding five years for Baseline Vetting clearances. More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website.
- Qualifications: either completed, underway, or intending to complete, and/or directly relevant experience in strategic human resources, is preferred but not essential for the positions.

Responsibilities:
In joining our Culture and Capability section, you will have the opportunity to lead or be involved in a number of exciting projects and initiatives including:
- Developing the department’s Talent Framework, and supporting leadership talent identification and development processes
- Implementing the department’s Secretary’s Leadership Series
- Supporting the implementation of the department’s Rewards and Recognition programs and coordinating a number of award ceremonies
- Implementing key initiatives from the department’s Learning Strategy
- Supporting the implementation of the department’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, working closely with the Diversity Champions and Networks, and supporting the department’s role across the broader APS in relation to diversity and inclusion
- Supporting the department’s Values and Diversity and Inclusion Committees
- Supporting and promoting a culture of inclusion through hosting of various events and initiatives throughout the year
- Implementing the department’s Mental Health Framework
- Implementing the department’s Reconciliation Action Plan and the department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy.
- Scoping and implementing software to capture and manage workforce skills and capabilities, and improve the onboarding and induction experience for our new starters
