Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a fixed term Meet PEET (Patient Experience Engagement Team) Project Manager until June 2025. This role will help deliver our Community Wellness Outreach Programme which provides NHS health checks in the community and is seen as a key mechanism to begin to tackle health inequalities. The Outreach Programme is an expansion of the innovative work the Meet PEET team has already been doing and is well established in several community groups. The new programme is a joint partnership between the BOB Integrated Care Board, Reading Borough Council, local Voluntary Sector organisations and the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust’s Meet PEET.
The role requires you to manage the activities of our nursing teams who will be out delivering health checks in the local community with seldom heard but important community groups. They will be providing health education, advice, and referrals.
The role will also help us monitor and evaluate the outcomes of the programme and will involve the analysis and presentation of data about the programme’s KPIs. It will also involve working in collaboration with all our community partners including Reading Voluntary Action and Reading Borough Council.

We are particularly looking for individuals passionate about addressing health inequalities and ideally with previous project management skills to bring to this ambitious programme of events.

  • Manage the delivery of NHS health checks in the community in areas where health inequalities are greatest. Including organising logistics, ensuring sufficient staffing and building a team of volunteers, ensuring sufficient working equipment at events and resolving problems.
  • Work in collaboration with community partners, establishing strong working relations, and building trust in the community.
  • Represent the Meet PEET initiative and Trust at events and meetings to promote the programme, and attend programme meetings.
  • Monitor progress and support the evaluation of the programme, analysing data, and providing updates, reports and presentations to Boards and Committees.
  • Monitor spend to ensure the project is keeping within budget and make adjustments as needed.
  • Constantly review the programme and look for improvements, working in collaboration with partners to make any changes required.

Key experience, skills, knowledge, and attributes we are looking for:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, motivated and enthusiastic – An ability to understand the requirements of various groups and individuals and to work with them in developing relations and trust in the community is key.
  • Good organisational and planning skills, as well as being resourceful is essential.
  • Strong data analysis skills and confidence in reporting and presenting.

This posts will be part of the Patient Experience Engagement Team which sits within the wider Patient Experience Department. This is a broad department focusing on a range of patient experience issues for the benefits of patients and staff. The team is part of the Chief Nursing Officer’s Corporate Directorate.
We are an inclusive and supportive team who are all passionate about addressing health inequalities. We support each other to deliver our best for our community.
You will spend a lot of your time based at Royal Berkshire Hospital but may also spend some of your time out at events, ensuring events are running smoothly.
Manage the activities of the Meet PEET (Patient Experience Engagement Team) team out in the community, ensuring sufficient staffing and volunteers are planned, and sufficient kit is available and can be collected and returned to base for each event.
Build a team of volunteers to support the programme and support them by being a point of contact and ensuring they are well informed about their involvement in our events – This includes providing positive feedback about their value.
Liaise with community partners and RVA, venues etc to independently build a programme of work, and organise the logistics for events, resolving challenges in the day to day running of the programme.
Ensure sufficient and appropriate equipment is identified and purchased to deliver the programme of work, resolving problems in the procurement of items.
Liaise with and develop our partnership working with all partners in this programme of work, including Reading Borough Council, Reading Integrated Care Board, Reading Voluntary Action and all strategic and venue partners. This also includes social prescribers and other organisations offering holistic support at the events, as well as colleagues in Wokingham and West Berkshire undertaking similar programmes as part of the wider ICB funded programme.
Attend programme and project meetings representing Meet PEET and ensure Meet PEET concept and reputation is maintained at all times.
Monitor data collection and progress towards achieving our target of 5200 NHS health checks by March 2025, escalating deviations from projections and helping to identify potential solutions. This includes recognising when changes to project scope will impact on the achievement of our targets.
Ensure the programme is undertaking and maintaining quality control processes with support from the Point of Care Team.
Monitor programme spend to ensure the programme is keeping within budget and identify if there is likely to be any over or under spend and escalate appropriately.
Attend some events with the team to ensure the smooth running of events and identify improvements in process, as well as supporting the team at events.
Extract, analyse and interpret data in relation to the health checks, using Whzan, JOY and Connected Care as well as other programmes.
Present data and insights in reports, presentations and at Reading Integration Board meetings and ensure the latest information is available to our strategic partners
Support the Patient Experience Programme Manager to constantly monitor and evolve the programme to ensure delivery of targets and the best possible offer is being provided to the community.
Utilise feedback and insights gained during sessions to identify potential improvements to patient experience within the healthcare service and support programmes to deliver these improvements, working with patients, carers and members of the community to design changes.
Work with translation services to ensure resources are available in various languages at all our events.
Ensure the local community feels engaged with and involved in the evolution of this programme of work and ensure the communication strategy is appropriate to target and inform potential patients for the health checks.
Attend internal meetings related to patient experience initiatives, to provide insights and support in the development of service improvements.
Be able to create and maintain a good working relationship with other NHS organisations, as well as a range of statutory and voluntary organisations.
