Description:

CYBER SECURITY ANALYST

  • Role Type: Ongoing, full-time opportunity.
  • Clerk Grade: 07/08 The package includes a base salary range of $ 106,025 to $117,363 plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • Location: Sydney or Bathurst
    Cyber Security NSW is looking for a Strategic Intelligence Cyber Security Analyst, to join our Intelligence and Response Team. The Intelligence and Response Team leads and coordinates intelligence and the NSW Government response to cyber incidents and events across all of NSW Government. The team combines both cyber security knowledge and processes with intelligence methodologies to monitor, assess and report on the cyber threat landscape and supports NSW Government responses to cyber security issues, risks and threats.
    The Strategic Intelligence team works closely with the Operational Intelligence Team and Incident Response team to provide expert advice and intelligence on the cyber threat environment impacting NSW Government and local council entities both individually, by sector and as a whole. The team also provides contextual and trend analysis of prospective threats, identifies opportunities to influence and guide stakeholders regarding specific threats and leads the production of an annual cyber threat report.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Proactively research and analyse available information and intelligence in order to identify opportunities to influence and guide government decision makers regarding specific and future cyber threats
  • Identifying issues that require further investigation or assessment.
  • Producing regular and ad hoc reports, briefs and cyber threat assessments for internal and external stakeholders
  • Prioritising your workload to meet agreed outcomes and timeframes; and
  • Contributing to the annual NSW Government Cyber Threat Report and accompanying data analysis.

Responsibilities:

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • An in-depth awareness and understanding of current trends in the ever-evolving cyber security threat environment.
  • An understanding of the VERIS and/or Mitre Att&ck frameworks used to support cyber threat intelligence and incident response.
  • High-level problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively manage your own workload and tasks
  • Excellent research and analysis skills with an ability to locate, evaluate and sort information from multiple sources, then analysing it to identify trends and interpret events
  • Good critical thinking skills with the ability to form a judgement and present sound, unbiassed intelligence assessments to stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain technical concepts in Plain English to different audiences, from executives and senior stakeholders to security teams
  • Willingness to be on-call and work flexibility in response to cyber threats and incidents.
  • Relevant qualifications, certifications or studies in cyber security and/or intelligence are highly regarded
