ABOUT YOU
We’re a diverse business looking for an experienced Datawarehouse Quality Engineer to work across and support multiple BI projects. To operate within these technically focused teams you will have the following:
- An expert in testing Oracle and Postgres databases and Datawarehouse’s.
- Hands on experience of delivering fully reconciled Facts and Dimensions and accurate end user reports.
- Understand end to end data requirements.
- Knowledge of Data Warehouse design; Star schema and dimensional modelling
- Strong analytical skills and a technical aptitude
- Ability to challenge and provide input in system architecture and design decisions.
- Good interpersonal skills in dealing with staff of varying abilities and technical proficiencies.
- You will be a highly organised individual with the ability to manage multiple test activities simultaneously and an aptitude to pick up challenging development and test items.
- Strong experience of agile/scrum techniques and ceremonies
- Capable of owning all testing related disciplines and deliverables within allocated projects
- Self-starter with initiative and enthusiasm
Minimum Criteria
- Experience of ETL / MI data testing
- Advanced / Expert level SQL skills to reconcile source/target data and to validate business rules / requirements.
- Proficient with using tools such as SQL Developer, Snowflake, PostgreSQL/DBeaver.
- Hands on and technical understanding of complex Data Warehousing terminology.
- Proficient with using OAS (or similar reporting tools) and validating subject areas and reports.
- Experience of working with and using ETL tools such as ODI
- Understanding of data replication tools such as GoldenGate and DMS
- Python scripting knowledge would be desirable.
- Experience of implementing CI/CD process would be an advantage.
- Experience of adding automation to Datawarehouse testing projects.
- Experience of using ALFA and Oracle E-business suite would be an advantage.
Responsibilities:
You will be working closely with other QEs in a multi-disciplinary team and will be required to understand complex data movements alongside business and technical requirements to elicit ETL/ELT reconciliation scenarios.
You will ensure that quality engineering principles are highlighted, discussed, and implemented from early design stages through to final production release. This will include reviewing acceptance criteria to determine relevant test scenarios; executing tests and collaborating with business users to ensure sign-off. You will also be responsible for the creation and maintenance of SQL based regression packs.
You will look at streamlining or investigating the possibility of further extending the teams existing SQL / ETL test automation processes where possible and will have the opportunity to learn new tools.
