Description:
- 2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, or R)
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with one or more industry analytics visualization tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy, PowerBI) and statistical methods (e.g. t-test, Chi-squared)
Amazon is rapidly expanding in Australia. Data is at the heart of everything we do and is a critical part of all business decisions. With rapid growth come new challenges to overcome, and is why we have created a new Data Analyst role within the Australia’s Security and Loss Prevention (AUSLP) to support our growing Business Risk Analytics Program. Through the reduction of product losses, the AUSLP team play a critical role in increasing profit, enabling Amazon’s mission to pass on these savings to our customers.
The mission of the AUSLP team is to mitigate security and operational risks to people, products, processes & data. This is achieved by preventing the security related threats/risks/vulnerabilities as early as possible; intervening in unfolding incidents and exposures to minimise negative impact; investigating relevant incidents in order to identify and remove root causes and prevent re-occurrence.
This role will report into the Business Intelligence Manager within our team to support the development of analytics solutions for AUSLP, Operations and Support Functions, with a particular focus on developing tools, research trends and develop root cause analysis on product loss in our FC (Fulfilment Centre) and Delivery Services environment.
Key job responsibilities
Interacting with internal/external stakeholders to identify and develop new datasets that can be used by the AUSLP.
Develop accessible visual analytics solutions applying design thinking.
Driving quantitative projects from start to finish with minimal oversight.
Leading data-driven investigations arising from identified risks and threats.
Communicating complex analysis and insights to stakeholders and business leaders, both verbally and in writing.
Write high quality SQL code to retrieve and analyse data.
Lead/assist in SLP related initiatives, projects and investigations.

- Master’s degree, or Advanced technical degree
- Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design
- Experience applying basic statistical methods (e.g. regression) to difficult business problems
