Position Overview:
Join our dynamic team at America’s Test Kitchen, a forward-thinking food media company dedicated to connecting consumers with premium food content. We are actively seeking a talented Data Architect to contribute to the development of robust and innovative web applications. This position will work on a tight cross-functional team that includes Product Design, Quality Assurance, and Engineering on defined initiatives that solve our most important business problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop digital data architecture vision for the database models that power all our digital products that ensure security, scalability, feature enablement, and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to devise and implement data strategies, operational processes, automation opportunities, and data quality
  • Create, maintain, and communicate the product platform and data strategy, vision, and roadmap to the agile team, stakeholders, and senior leadership
  • Evaluate complex issues in light of variable factors providing an in-depth evaluation
  • Maintain large scale system and complex workflow, designing, building, extending, and refactoring when necessary
  • Preemptively identify and escalate issues that impact deliverables
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment when selecting techniques to achieve results

Skills you’ll need:

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect with a strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, Ruby, and Content Management System architectures
  • Expert level understanding of backend technologies, with experience in both SQL and NoSQL databases, RESTful API development, and documentation
  • Ability to mentor and provide guidance to engineers of varying skill levels
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with proven ability to organize and communicate complex technical information for non-technical audiences
  • In-depth knowledge and experience working with agile development principles and processes
  • Deep understanding of both qualitative and quantitative data to support data-driven decisions, supported by business cases, market research, customer data, competitive analysis, and financial assessments
  • Demonstration of resiliency, empathy, adaptability, presence, innovation, humility, and navigating complexities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years in software development, with 3 or more in database engineering
  • React Native and E-commerce experience is a plus
