Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Position Summary:
If you want to have an impact on improving pre-hospital health system performance and are excited about data and analytics, this job is for you. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in joining an organization that is evolving and to play a pivotal role in achieving Ornge’s data vision to help business leaders drive decisions and tackle complex business questions. The Data Architect will provide strategic and technical leadership in data-strategy, data-processes, and drive the development of the organization’s data architecture, its platform, models, and data-governance. Responsibilities include delivering of modern data solutions, data ingestions/data pipelines, data-quality, data-governance and implementation of Enterprise Data Strategy supporting Ornge’s Enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) platform. The candidate will provide expertise and risk mitigation, collaborate with various key internal and external business stakeholders to ensure Ornge’s Enterprise Data Architecture is optimized for all corporate and BI requirements including data storage, reporting and analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the organization’s Data Architecture, which includes definitions, enterprise-wide conceptual and logical models to drive the descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics
  • Implement end-to-end modern data platforms in support of data ingestion, processing, and analytics, in accordance with data privacy and information security standards, utilizing industry best practices.
  • Assist in modernization of existing Data Architecture by taking into consideration business needs, corporate priorities, technical capabilities, modern data methods and technologies supporting organization’s Enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) platform.
  • Ensure that interoperability capability, performance and scalability, reliability and availability, data consistency, and technological risks are all addressed in the data architecture.
  • Design high quality data solutions based on sound technical principles that utilize internal and external data which is transformed, cleansed and integrated into existing Enterprise Data Architecture in adherence to corporate data-governance strategy.
  • Design, develop, and maintain data-pipelines to support Enterprise Data Analytical platform, which utilizes various data sources, including databases, APIs, and streaming data.
  • Troubleshoot/monitor performance of data pipelines, recommend and implement improvements to enhance pipeline reliability and efficiency.
  • Provide data architecture and required architectural artifacts such as conceptual architecture, logical architecture, physical architecture for key initiatives/projects supporting corporate data-strategy.
  • Ensure consistent application of enterprise-wide data structures, data definitions and measures for all corporate initiatives/projects.
  • Identify technical risks and develop mitigation plans in collaboration with Data Architecture team.
  • Develop data architectural standards, design patterns and schemas, and conduct architecture gating reviews to ensure implementation compliancy.
  • Establish working relationships with senior leaders, management, and business units to collaborate on establishment of Enterprise Data Architecture that supports organizational needs.
  • Maintain close collaborative working relationship with Business Intelligence Analysts to ensure timely delivery of data analytical platform and support for Enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) platform.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in quantitative areas such as Computer Science, Information Management, Big Data & Analytics, or a related field is desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum ten (10) years experience as a Data Architect or similar. Experience as an Enterprise Data Architect working on organization-wide systems integration and transformation initiatives.
  • Advanced understanding of Enterprise Data Architecture platforms, concepts, patterns and artifacts.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large scale data architecture and data migration projects.
  • Experience with implementing business vision, strategy, roadmaps, governance and quality methods/practices.
  • Advanced technical T-SQL experience with proficiency in SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, ETL/ELT.
  • Advanced technical proficiency with transformations, and loading of internal/external data from various source like files, JSON, XML, noSQL, SQL databases, as well as custom vendor APIs.
  • Experience with Azure Cloud Data & Analytics Services in the cloud is preferred.
  • Experience with data management, star/snowflake schemas, dimensional-modeling, enterprise data consolidation, and production deployments of measures/KPIs to SSAS/Data Lake/dimensional-model.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills and the ability to apply these skills in a collaborative way across diverse teams of stakeholders.
  • Ability to conceptualize complex ideas into the key artifacts required to develop data architectures that are consistent with organizational enterprise architectural standards and technology strategy.
  • Ability to think from various points-of-view (including end-user, architecture, development, tester) in terms of access to data, application usability, performance, configuration, data-governance and data-quality stewardship.
