THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in transforming our data landscape. You will work closely with the Head of Data & Analytics and collaborate with our dedicated data and analytics team to drive enterprise reporting, data engineering, and data management initiatives.
In this role, you will be at the forefront of data warehouse development, data modelling, and report creation, providing the insights that propel our business forward. While your core responsibilities will centre on these areas, you will also have the exciting opportunity to contribute to machine learning projects and develop integration pipelines, expanding your skill set and driving innovation.

Key duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Data engineering

  • Design, implement and evolve robust and effectively aligned Cloud data solutions;
  • Work with other various business teams to extract and transform data from a wide variety of data sources;
  • Architect and build robust data environments.
  • Build presentation layer components, such as Power BI reports;
  • Continually improve ongoing processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for the business. Have the fortitude to figure out difficult problems and implement solutions for them;

Data pipelines

  • Build robust and scalable cloud data integration (ELT) pipelines using tools such as Matillion, DBT, Python, Fivetran and others;
  • Analyse existing complex ELTs and design new/improved solutions, including real time streams;

Presentation layer

  • Build presentation layer/reporting components, using tools such as PowerBI.

Requirements identification

  • Work collaboratively across teams in the business to evaluate the effectiveness of user experiences, determining what data is needed, and how to collect it.

Responsibilities:

Essential

  • Relevant industry certifications such as Snowflake SnowPro;
  • Previous experience with big data warehouses such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse or Redshift;
  • Prior experience in a BI Developer or Data Engineer role;
  • Previous experience with any data pipeline tools such as SSIS, Datastage, Talend, DBT, Stitch, Matillion, Fivetran, Kafka, Databricks etc;
  • Database development experience with any data-storage environments, such as Databricks, Oracle, SQL, Snowflake, Redshift, Azure Synapse etc;
  • Advanced experience using SQL;
  • Extensive experience with reporting and visualization tools such as PowerBI, Domo, Tableau, Looker et al;
  • Enjoy being exposed to tools outside the normal data engineering stack
  • Working autonomously, owning your own projects, and seeing them through to completion in a timely manner
