THE OPPORTUNITY

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development with the emphasis of programming languages as specified below. Experience in graduate school may count towards this experience.
  • Proficiency with Python.
  • Proficiency with the Python geoscientific stack, including xarray, dask, and zarr.
  • Experience manipulating large weather and climate datasets using scalable and efficient code, required.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git within GitHub.
  • Preferred experience with cloud computing platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure (a very strong preference to Azure).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Start-up experience is a plus.
  • Proven track record of contributing to complex projects and delivering high-quality software solutions.

  • This is a full-time, exempt position.
  • Fully Remote from the United States
  • This job requires frequent use of a computer to complete tasks, attend meetings, and communicate via Microsoft Teams.

The salary range for this position is $120-150k annually, however Climavision considers several factors when extending an offer of employment including but not limited to, the applicant’s education, experience, the responsibilities of the role, training, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Responsibilities:

  • Data Engineering: Design, develop, and optimize data engineering software leveraging your comprehensive understanding of geoscientific data.
  • Implement: Implement best practices for data modeling, ETL processes, and data ingestion, continually enhancing data engineering methodologies.
  • Transformation: Perform feature extraction and data transformation to prepare datasets for machine learning applications.
  • Reliability: Ensure data verification and integrity to maintain the accuracy and reliability of datasets used in AI model creation.
  • Collaborate: Collaborate closely with the AI team to ensure seamless integration of data engineering tasks with machine learning workflows.
  • Innovate: Act as an internal subject matter expert, offering solutions to a wide array of geoscientific data engineering challenges. Stay updated on the latest data engineering and machine learning trends to continuously improve practices and tools.
