About the Role
We are seeking a Data Engineer, for a Max-Term- 1 year – Full Time opportunity in THQ Blackburn, VIC.
The purpose of the Data Engineering role is to implement an automated Fundraising Data solution from source to landing, ensuring continuous maintenance and data accuracy. Leveraging the Azure platform and associated methodologies, this position focuses on transforming and automating data from source systems to Data Mart, including Dashboard/Reports for wider team utilization.
Your role is key in designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable data solutions on the Microsoft Azure Data Platform, whilst collaborating closely with senior data engineers and cross-functional teams in Fundraising. This role presents an exciting opportunity for passionate individuals looking to leverage their data experience to support our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be successful in this role if you can:
Undertake all aspects of solution building by collaborating with business stakeholders, project managers, and IT to translate requirements into technical builds. Technically executing the following.

Solution Building and Data Pipeline Development:

  • Design, implement, and optimize data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and transforming data from various sources into Azure data services with support from senior data engineers.
  • Translate requirements into technical builds and deliver data marts to Fundraising and Business Intelligence leads.
  • Acquire, land, test, validate, and progress data through multiple layers of the data warehouse.
  • Integrate data from different platforms and sources into the Azure environment, ensuring data quality, consistency, and security.
  • Contribute to the setup and management of Azure SQL databases, and other cloud or on-premises data storage solutions.
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes to transform raw data into a usable format, adhering to best practices for performance and maintainability.

Data Management and Security:

  • Maintain and Manage Fundraising Data Mart through Azure Data Hub Platform, ensuring data security compliance by ensuring access controls align with Information governance requirements.
  • Schedule and Manage Data Pipelines from Fundraising sources ensuring timely data updates
  • Utilize data processing capabilities to transform data through SQL queries, Azure, or other data processing languages and tools.
  • Develop solutions that adhere to Data Architecture standards.

Monitoring, Troubleshooting, and Documentation

  • Monitor data pipelines and databases, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, data quality issues, and other technical challenges.
  • Document data models and maintain data lineage information for governance and traceability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues arising during data processing and transformation, providing support and guidance to the team.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize data queries and data load processes to ensure performance and reliability.

Collaboration and Training:

  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, project managers, IT, and the project’s Fundraising Business Intelligence Analyst.
  • Facilitate learning and education among Fundraising Data Mart users, and PowerBI Developers .
  • Work closely with all Fundraising teams to ensure that the data processes meet requirements and goals.

Qualifications and Experience:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related fields such as Business Analytics or Data Science
  • Any relevant Microsoft Azure certifications, such as Azure Data Engineer Associate.

Experiences:

  • 2-5 Years of Data Engineering experience understanding of data engineering concepts and prior exposure to Azure data services like Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, and Azure Databricks is advantageous.
  • Familiar with data modelling methodologies including STAR and Snowflake, using tools such as ERWIN
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages like Python, SQL and DAX is essential.
  • Experience in working under project conditions, managing multiple demands and deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and identify data-related issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to work, as you’ll be working closely with senior data engineers and other team members.
