Data Engineering Manager

YOUR ROLE:

We are looking for an experienced Manager to join us to lead, co-ordinate and manage our team of Data Engineers who are assigned to a vast range of projects across the Society. The team is made up of 6-8 people, a mixture of both Contract and Permanent resource within our Data Centre of Excellence, who are at varying stages of their careers and therefore requiring different levels of support. We’ll look to you to ensure the team is high performing and that the service management is efficient fully compliant with company needs.
Your role is key to achieving success within our Data Excellence pillar of our Data Strategy which has a primary objective of getting the right data, to the right people, at the right time by developing our flexible data architecture. You’ll work closely in collaboration with all teams across the department, Architecture and IT to ensure the efficient operation of the strategic information services and the delivery of our strategic roadmap and project developments.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Lead, develop, motivate, train and mentor a forward-looking customer centric Data Engineering Team; developing a high performing culture and ensuring individual and collective contribution meets the current and future needs of the business
• Manage your team of data engineers to ensure the smooth operation of the data services and the delivery across a number of development projects both as art of the data strategy and the change project portfolio
• Drive the Data Engineering team to deliver the solutions that fulfil the Business information needs and align with the Data vision and strategy.
• Drive continuous improvement using analytics tools, transformation and automation of processes to meet business needs and drive efficiency. (Eg. Python, SQL or Java)
• Work alongside the Data Product Owner to understand resource demands, navigate constraints and support the business in achieving Transformation milestones
• Incident Management for BAU platform when support is needed
