Description:

As the Senior Data Governance Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and enhancing our data governance practices. Leveraging your extensive experience in the retail industry, you will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust data governance framework tailored to our specific business needs. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, optimizing data quality, and maximizing the value derived from our data assets.

The Role:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework aligned with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data governance requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Define data governance roles and responsibilities, establishing clear accountability and ownership across the organization.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of existing data management processes, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Design and implement data quality standards, monitoring mechanisms, and remediation processes to uphold data integrity.
  • Establish metadata management practices to facilitate data discovery, lineage, and impact analysis.
  • Lead the development of data governance documentation, including policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on data governance principles, practices, and tools.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate data governance controls into existing systems and applications.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance, with a focus on the retail industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully designing, implementing, and managing data governance frameworks for retail organizations.
  • Extensive knowledge of data governance principles, practices, and standards, including GDPR, CCPA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of data management concepts, such as data modeling, metadata management, data quality, and data lineage.
  • Experience with data governance tools and platforms, such as Informatica and Snowflake, preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a collaborative and proactive approach to driving change and achieving results.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Certification in data governance (e.g., CDMP) or related field is a plus.
