Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Data Management Specialist is responsible for the school’s data and reporting needs, support and coordination with student information system data management, student registration, transcript services, and assisting with data needs associated with state and national testing and certifications and licensure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent required
At least three (3) years of experience in data management
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Google Suites

Responsibilities:

  • Focuses on customer service, creating a positive climate of respect and trust.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of district policies and procedures.
  • Participates in administrative training and meetings, staff meetings, District committees, seminars, conferences, etc.
  • Supports various departments in maintaining the electronic personnel and student management system and ensures compliance with State regulations.
  • Maintains strong communication with employees.
  • Receives and responds to emails, written correspondence, and telephone inquiries on time.
  • Maintains data related to the district and department goals to assist in evaluating reports, decisions, and results.
  • Makes recommendations for continuous improvement in the efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Assists in the preparation and distribution of reports for District, Federal, and State agencies and other agencies or administrators, as directed.
  • Researches and stays current on regulations, policies, and procedures that pertain to state reporting and data management.
  • Manages district-wide student management system.
  • Maintains software release levels at current status.
  • Troubleshoots database problems and implements appropriate solutions.
  • Provides training and technical support to users of the student management system.
  • Implements user policies and standards as required by the district administration.
  • Develops reporting capabilities as required by users and state agencies.
  • Develops PC and web-based reports and applications using industry standards.
  • Analyzes and evaluates database management problems.
  • Displays ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.
  • Protects the confidentiality of records and information about staff, and use discretion when sharing such information within legal confines.
  • Adheres to federal statutes and regulations, Illinois school law, State Board of Education rules and regulations, Board of Education policies and procedures, and contractual obligations.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as determined by the Superintendent or designee or as needs arise.
