Description:
POSITION: Data Manager
REPORTING TO Head of IT, with dotted line to CEO and CFO
Position Overview: The Data Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the organization’s data and ensuring the accuracy, validation and security of data. This position involves overseeing data collection, storage, analysis, and reporting to support decision-making and strategic planning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in data management, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in data management or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of databases and data analysis procedures.
- Proficient in data management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
The key skills required for a Data Manager typically include:
- Data Analysis & Interpretation: Ability to analyse data and extract meaningful insights that can inform decisions.
- Database Management: Proficiency in managing outputs from databases, including knowledge of SQL and experience with database management software.
- Data Quality Management: Ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data within the organization.
- Data Security: Understanding of data protection laws and best practices for securing sensitive information.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with data management tools and B.I software, such as POWERBI, Microsoft Excel, Access, or other data visualization tools.
- Project Management: Ability to manage projects, including planning, executing, and monitoring data-related projects.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively convey data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership & Training: Experience in leading a team and providing training to staff on data management practices.
These skills enable a Data Manager to effectively oversee the data lifecycle, support the organization’s data needs, and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement data management policies and procedures.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Manage output from databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize data quality and efficiency
- Work closely with Head of IT to identify and ensure that any outputs from technical issues relating to databases and data collection systems are addressed.
- Provide training and support to staff on data management practices.
- Generate, interpret, and “sense check” financial and non-financial data reports to assist CEO and management in decision-making.
- Work closely with various departments to identify and meet their data needs.
