Description:

This individual works with various formats and types of genealogical record data published in Historical Records on FamilySearch.org. This role will help develop tools to assist throughout the department in the analysis, manipulation, standardization, enrichment, and normalization of index data; writes custom treatments and/or runs pre-scripted treatments on the data to achieve desired outcomes; understands internal systems and processes that work together so that index data is searchable by patrons and for use by stakeholders and partners. Data Operations Analyst 2 is responsible for understanding project requirements and specifications, along with communicating with stakeholders both technical and non-technical across the organization to clarify requirements, specifications or communicate constraints.

• Primary responsibility is to develop both front-end interfaces as well as backend scripts to build tools to facilitate various team needs

  • Meet assigned deadlines for projects
  • Work well in operational environment to ensure production cadence is maintained
  • Demonstrate knowledge of various databases, structures, and data management tools and acquire understanding and knowledge of additional tools as needed
  • Work effectively with other team members to repair data and resolve obstacles
  • Report issues with data and systems, and implement improvements
  • Resolve with assistance complex data structure and system conformance issues
  • Understand operational business needs and processes required to perform essential job duties
  • Responsible to rapidly come up to speed and learn new tools and technology, and adapt business processes accordingly

• Bachelor’s degree in related field and 2 years of experience or a combination of professional work experience and education

  • Experience with Coding in Java and/or Python
  • Experience development front-end interfaces with experience developing in React or similar software
  • Experience in manipulating data sets, running complex scripts to meet project and system specifications
  • Experience with various types of database schemas, protocols, and data querying/management software
