This position entails overseeing our data teams and the cloud-based data platform they manage for the company. However, the primary goal is to leverage your expertise as a technical product manager and software engineering leader to ensure the team’s activities are aligned with the company’s objectives. While experience in data engineering disciplines is advantageous, it is not mandatory.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing the business outcomes of Data Engineering, Data Science, and Data Governance.
• Strategizing and refining our organization-wide data platform to support newsrooms and business units.
• Interacting with and managing the expectations of external data consumers, business stakeholders, and other software engineering teams.
• Collaborating with the team to groom and review the backlog during planning sessions.
• Defining and ensuring the delivery of successful data and data science solutions.
• Prioritizing requirements across multiple software engineering teams and stakeholders.
• Crafting business requirements and user stories through regular interaction with internal data consumers and business stakeholders.
• Monitoring company-wide adoption and incorporating feedback into product and platform improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Graduate’s Degree in business, computer science, engineering, or information technology, or have equivalent experience.
• Track record in defining and optimizing software delivery processes across multiple teams.
• Software engineering background and have experience with cloud technologies.
• Leadership qualities and thrive in collaborative environments, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent at engaging with executive leadership.
• Value making informed decisions, even if they require careful consideration, believing that a well-considered decision is far better than indecision.
