POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Part-Time Data Science Specialist position involves managing and ensuring the accuracy of client data for Immigrant Services Calgary. This role requires technical expertise, analytical skills, and strong attention to detail to support data entry, analysis, and reporting. The Data Specialist will report to the Manager, Service Excellence, and will work closely with other team members to collaborate on data management tasks and support organizational needs.
Key responsibilities include database management using systems like Salesforce and iCARE, producing statistical reports for funders, and supporting Language class referrals. Effective communication and problem-solving abilities are essential for this role, which contributes to data-driven decision-making and organizational processes. The specialist must also uphold ethical standards and privacy regulations related to handling sensitive client information.
ISC offers a hybrid work arrangement requiring a minimum of 3 days per week on-site. The hybrid work schedule for part-time roles will be determined based on part-time hours and business needs.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in advanced analytics and data science.
  • Proficiency in using data management systems like Salesforce and iCARE, with demonstrable experience in maintaining data integrity and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of Power BI.
  • Knowledge in SQL coding.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organize and analyze data.

Qualifications and skills:Education:

  • Certificate in Database Management, Statistical Analysis, Office Administration or equivalent

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of client data entered by Gateway Planners, Language Assessors, and other staff.
  • Produce statistical reports as required by other departments and funders.
  • Perform monthly exports and uploads of Language Assessments, Gateway Needs Assessment, and Information-Orientation services to iCARE, ensuring accuracy and completion of reporting.
  • Maintain adherence to funder’s data guidelines and requirements, providing advice on necessary changes.
  • Manage Salesforce, iCARE, and other client data systems efficiently, including data entry, management, accuracy monitoring, risk assessment, and recommendations for system enhancements.
  • Provide data entry and management support to staff as needed.
  • Support Language class referrals by accurately entering updated LINC class information into Salesforce.
  • Maintain up-to-date internal records, lists, and files to facilitate information flow within the organization.
  • Support the implementation of Quality Assurance and Performance Management Frameworks, developing reports and providing input on trends.
  • Collaborate with Manager, Service Excellence to perform general tasks essential for organizational functioning and support other staff when necessary.
  • Ability to manage large data sets, identify anomalies and trouble-shoot root causes.
