Join our innovative team as a Data Scientist, focusing on the development and optimization of a Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) tax research platform using the market leading foundational Large Language Models (LLMs). Our company is at the forefront of applying artificial intelligence to tax research. We’re looking for a skilled individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about shaping the future of AI assisted tax research.
Your work will directly contribute to enhancing our AI capabilities, ensuring our technology remains at the industry’s leading edge.
A note on location: We are excited to meet with qualified candidates and are grateful for everyone’s interest, however this is a hybrid position that requires applicants to be within commuting distance of Toronto for occasional in person meetings and collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement effective strategies for utilizing large-scale foundational language models, focusing on improving efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within our product
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that our product continues to delight and meet the needs of our rapidly expanding user base
  • Conduct ongoing research to stay abreast of the latest developments in machine learning and NLP, applying innovative techniques to enhance our internal model performance
  • Develop and maintain robust codebases, documentation, and version control for all models and algorithms
  • Perform rigorous testing and validation of models, including designing metrics for performance evaluation and identifying areas for improvement
  • Work collaboratively with our developers and legal research team to ensure the availability and quality of our proprietary datasets
  • Have a sense of pride and ownership, constantly thinking strategically and critically about how we can continuously improve Blue J’s products
  • Our goal is to work in true partnership with our clients by attending to their feedback, troubleshooting, and incorporating their recommendations to consistently and reliably add value, and you will help us continuously achieve this
