Job Description

  • The position: Data Scientist
  • Reports to: Senior Director, Digital Services
  • Location: This is an in-office position located in Calgary, Alberta

CAWST is looking to add a Data Scientist to our team. We are looking for someone with experience in data engineering, analysis and data science to help CAWST deliver solutions to support our global network of clients and partners at scale. You will work closely with our in-house teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities.

POSITION SUMMARY

The main focus for this role is to help drive forward a program of work that is collecting a variety of behavioural signals from our client touchpoints. We need data science expertise to help make appropriate use of that behavioural data to deliver interest based, personalized recommendations that will help connect clients with the CAWST services and resources that will help clients make progress on the work they are doing to bring safe water and sanitation to communities around the world.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A degree and/or several years of experience in data engineering, analysis or data science.
  • Fluency in data querying, manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience presenting data and information to various audiences.
  • Familiarity with the setup and best practices for ETL pipelines, data lakes and similar core concepts.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques.
  • Fluency with relational databases.
  • Bonus: Experience with cloud infrastructure such as Microsoft Azure, and Dynamics 365.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead CAWST’s efforts in data engineering, analysis, and data science to deliver personalized recommendations to clients based on behavioural data.
  • Help CAWST collect, organize, interpret, and summarize data to contribute to the development of products, and to understand our impact in the world.
  • Apply your expertise in the analysis and presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our clients interact with CAWST’s various touchpoints.
  • Partner with various teams to help solve problems, and identify trends.
  • Help with selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to data-related problems.
  • As needed, participate in the definition, implementation and operationalization of success metrics and targets for products and/or teams.
