HOW WILL I HELP?

Reporting to the Technology Domain Owner of Customer Data and ESG within CIB technology, this data scientist/data modeller role will support the CIB Technology Division in managing its data delivery risks and controls in alignment with frameworks and policies within the Group. This role is the lead role within CIB Data technology delivery.
You will be working on several high-profile initiatives and projects across multiple business units. These initiatives aim to provide world class analytics solutions to the bank that will help meet the strategic goals of the business and the group. Your audience and stakeholders will be broad and diverse, giving you an unrivalled profile and the platform from which to build your career.
This position will provide critical support to Domain Owner, by delivering, co-ordinating and managing data delivery activities for the Divisions.

Responsibilities:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Lead the design and implementation of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehouses.
  • Develop data models to support the organisation’s data needs and ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Translate challenges the business faces into technical solutions by providing technical thought leadership.
  • Facilitating the understanding of framework and policy requirements across the WIB division, liaising with the ESG data domain owners within WIB and Group regarding risk assessments and applicable controls and collating a view of issues linked to technology ESG data risks.
  • Hands on delivery of the new data assets including consulting on the modelling, design and build.
  • Develop and maintain data blueprints, standards, and best practices.
  • Lead both the data analytics and data engineering teams to ensure the successful execution of data initiatives.
  • Hands on development and implementation of data analytics solutions, including dashboarding and advanced analytics capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement within the organization.
  • Participate and apply data governance across all projects and change events that involve upstream and downstream data flows and processes.
  • Integrating and working with relevant in scope application data owners across the Westpac Group (across Group Tech, Treasury, Group Data, Group Risk etc)
  • Help drive business decisions by analysing data metrics and reporting on its outcome.
  • Monitor and report on progress made regarding the uplift of ESG data quality within CIB Technology.

To be set up for success in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • 10 years + experience working with ETL, SQL, data architecture, data modelling.
  • Proven experience with Snowflake, Databricks, PySpark, Python, SQL, ETL, Tableau, Power BI, etc.
  • Proven experience in data design, data modelling and architecture in complex enterprise data warehouse and lake environments.
  • Proven experience in development and implementation of data analytics solutions, including dashboarding and advanced analytics capabilities.
  • Proven customer and stakeholder engagement experience
  • Proven experience in lead positions across data strategy, data analytics, data engineering, or related roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing data strategies that drive business outcomes.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business requirements into actionable data initiatives. Previous experience as a technical business analyst is a plus.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Years of proven data/ESG data experience in implementing solutions across the banking and finance, insurance industries or regulatory experience advantageous
