Responsibilities:

Your key responsibilities include:

  • As a member of the AI Services team contribute to data science best practices, standards and guidelines to enable the delivery of Machine Learning Models and Generative AI solutions.
  • Develop end-to-end machine learning models (large language models, generative AI models) to solve complex business problems. Liaise with stakeholders and technologists to set requirements and ensure delivery of project work.
  • Actively partner with stakeholders, data scientists and other technical teams to understand business requirements and design, develop and deploy data driven solutions. Communicate the value of data driven solutions and help increase the uptake and understanding of new data science practices.
  • Communicate complex data science concepts to business stakeholders to increase data science adoption.
  • Lead projects from start to finish and identify ways to improve ways of working. Help influence the direction of the team and can oversee larger groups of work and projects.
  • Contribute to the GenAI practice and use cases across the Westpac group.
  • Keep up to date with the latest research and advancements in the field and contribute to academic and industry publications.
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of Machine Learning Models in close collaboration with the in-house data scientists.
  • Mentor junior team members, provide technical guidance, and promote best practices, especially in AI development.
  • Engage closely with the Data Engineering Practice and Data Science COE to ensure regular assessment and alignment of process and practice maturity

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the below skills:

  • 4+ years of industry experience in developing and deploying ML models for various applications, with a strong track record of delivering successful AI solutions incl. some experience in LLMs in business context.
  • Expertise in the following areas: natural language processing, or computer vision Methods: NLP, LLM, GenAI, Open AI, Microsoft Cognitive Services - Audio to text, text mining NLP, Image recognition, Machine Learning.
  • Experience with Azure Platforms or other cloud platforms.
  • Experience in developing models using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Deep understanding of the latest advancements in deep learning, reinforcement learning and generative models, with a proven track record of building and deploying successful applications/solutions in this field is desirable
