POSITION OVERVIEW
Deutsche Bank (DB) benefits from having a highly experienced and dedicated Anti Financial Crime (AFC) function, which performs a crucial role in keeping DB’s business operations and global financial services clean from financial crime while serving the interests of the bank and society.
In order to combat financial crime effectively and respond to challenges in a flexible manner, AFC has a matrix structure combining regional, business line and global functional coverage in our core areas of Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions & Embargoes, Anti-Fraud, Bribery & Corruption, Investigations & Intelligence, Monitoring & Screening, and Risk Assessment. YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Academic degree in one of the following areas: (business) mathematics / statistics / data science / computer science / economics / comparable qualification with a quantitative background
- Ideally experience in developing, assessing or validating quantitative models
- Professional experience in one of the following relevant areas of expertise is desirable: financial crime / risk management in banking or regulatory environment / IT or quality assurance in financial services
- Knowledge of common statistical methods and practical experience in data preparation and analysis. Profound experience in handling respective software (e.g. SQL, Python, PySpark, SAS, R, Tableau)
- Good written and oral English skills with the ability to prepare methodological relationships in a comprehensible way (in Excel, Word etc.)
- Team player, willingness to learn, strong communication, personal integrity
Responsibilities:
DETAILS OF THE ROLE AND HOW IT FITS INTO THE TEAM
The Model Review function is located in the Global Risk, Intelligence and Transaction Analysis (GRITA) department within AFC Monitoring & Screening (AFC M&S). As a Data Scientist in the Model Review team, you will regularly evaluate all transaction monitoring models which are globally used by the bank. Your analysis results support AFC M&S in your respective areas of responsibility and build the basis for further optimization. You work in a team of other analysts with a focus on big data and ideally have experience with tools, software and techniques like Python, PySpark, SQL, Tableau, Hadoop, AI / Machine Learning. You have a natural interest in new technologies and developments in the field of analytics.
YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Quantitative and qualitative model evaluation and assessment
- Improve the model review process and correspondent reports by further enhancement of a dynamic, sophisticated and highly automated control system
- Challenge existing models by alternative methodologies or approaches
- Motivate team members, enable a feedback culture
- Be a sparring partner for other areas inside AFC M&S, such as model development
