Overview
The Data & Services team is looking for a Data Scientist to drive our data-driven insights forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving. The D&S team is a key differentiator for Mastercard, providing the cutting-edge services that help our customers grow. Focused on thinking big and scaling fast around the globe, this agile team is responsible for end-to-end solutions for a diverse global customer base. Centered on data-driven technologies and innovation, these services include payments-focused consulting, loyalty and marketing programs, business Test & Learn experimentation, and data-driven information and risk management services. Client verticals include Financial Institutions, Retail & Commerce and Digital Partners, Governments, and many others.
Role
As a team member of Data & Services Analytics Team, the candidate will create prototypes for new ideas/offerings and constantly improve existing products. You will analyze and synthesize data sets both from within Mastercard and beyond to bring powerful insights to clients.
We are looking for a team player who is ready to proactively collaborate with members of different teams to gather information pieces and use them to draw a bigger picture. We’re working in a rapidly evolving environment and an applicant may lack knowledge in some specific area, but successful candidate should be able to solve problems on his own, being responsible and willing to learn without daily guidance.
Main area of our interest is economics/finance/statistics, and it would be an advantage to have an experience in this field. Nevertheless, candidates from other knowledge fields are welcome as well, especially when they’re curious and motivated to broad their expertise in fintech, econometrics, accounting, statistics, and related areas.

All about you:

  • BS or MS in Data Science, Advance Analytics, Economics, Mathematics or a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience as a data scientist
  • Experience with large-scale datasets and implementing predictive modeling, data mining, and other quantitative and research analytics
  • Knowledge and experience with Python (preferrable) and/or R with strong SQL skills
  • Good knowledge of machine learning algorithms
  • Experience working with credit card data a big plus
  • Passion: Actively seeks responsibility and takes pride in delivering the highest quality results and recommendations to our clients
  • Motivation to collaborate with colleagues from other departments in different technician roles
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively – both verbally and in writing – in English and the local office language(s)
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the country of which they are applying for a position in, as well as eligible to apply for travel visas as required by travel needs
