Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Natera is a global leader in cell-free DNA testing, supporting oncology, women’s health, and organ health. Our goal in R&D operations data science is to support R&D activities at Natera through data analytics and development of tools to optimize workflows and processes. As a data scientist on the team, you will be instrumental in leading data-driven decisions. You will work closely with the R&D stakeholders to identify key needs and own projects from conception to deployment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or data engineering, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Domain knowledge in life sciences or a quantitative field such as operations research, applied math, and engineering
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to produce readable, reproducible and documented code
  • Demonstrated ability to complete the full predictive analytics lifecycle from project ideation, data collection and engineering, and insight generation
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in a narrative story format with a business mindset

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with R&D stakeholders to identify R&D workflows that will benefit from streamlining and automation
  • Collect, structure, and analyze data to develop insights about key business questions of material interest
  • Own end-to-end development of reports and tools–from requirements gathering, to iterative development with stakeholders, to launch and maintenance of various pipelines, to communication of insights
  • Present findings from data in a narrative that is clear and easily digestible by various stakeholders regardless of their background in data analysis (e.g. easy to understand metrics, strong presentation skills, ability to think on your feet to respond to questions)
  • Participate in conversations around and assist in creating data governance standards for R&D workflows
  • Continuously work to maintain flow of data sources and increase data quality, integrity, and reliability from existing data sources
