Department Summary:
The Advanced Capabilities Department (N162) within the Integrated All-Domain Effects Division (N160) in MITRE’s Air and Space Forces Center focuses on developing and enabling capabilities to counter peer adversaries and enable the US to project power and operate within highly contested environments. N162 is seeking a Data Scientist who wants to deliver innovative solutions to unique national challenges. The successful candidate will lead a diverse team with deep technical knowledge in enabling technology areas that apply across the special capabilities programs supporting the Integrate All-Domain Effects Division. These technologies included applied physics, signal processing, electronic warfare, test and evaluation, machine learning, and data visualization. The successful candidate will supervise, lead, and provide quality oversight of work. They will develop work plans and schedules for product deliveries, engage with sponsors, and stay current on relevant, evolving technologies.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Build and lead cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy software applications and systems.
- Lead the execution of data analytics and machine learning projects, responsible for the full data analytics lifecycle.
- Provide objective technical guidance to shape and define program objectives and requirements.
- Apply tools and writes programs to structure data sources and process big data.
- Utilize unsupervised and supervised machine learning to help understand problems and to provide guidance for future action.
- Interface with sponsors and other stakeholders to understand mission needs and manage expectations
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and advocate for all levels of staff
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Proven track record of trying new things and achieving significant
- Active US Secret clearance
- This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated experience enabling and ensuring technical quality of delivered products
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams in the areas of automation, cyber security, AI/ML algorithm development and implementation, data architectures, and/or big data processing.
- Ability to obtain a US Top Secret clearance
