Are you our next Data Scientist?
The Data Scientist (DS) will be responsible for identifying causal inference from structured and unstructured data of our operations. The DS will utilize various supervised and unsupervised learning techniques to draw insight and gain predictive power to mission critical KPI’s that drive business objectives. The DS will report through the Operations Excellence team in our North America business and have data science responsibilities activities of our mining operations.

What will you do?

  • Develop, quality test, and deploy algorithms using a variety of statistical/machine learning techniques that will help classify, predict, or detect anomalies in a variety of mission critical Key Performance Indicators of our operations.
  • Conduct data acquisition, exploration, preparation, and preprocessing
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to scope the business opportunity and provide insight into competing model capabilities
  • Work with our IT partners to develop and improve data pipeline infrastructure
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement best practices on code hygiene and management of change
  • Advocate for data-driven decision through sharing success stories and potential opportunities with key business partners
  • Comply with Environmental Health/Safety, operations and other business requirements
  • Engage in self-development to enrich your skillset to fulfill your career aspirations

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, major in Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • 3 years of applied data science experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of statistics and data science concepts
  • Ability to develop in Python and corresponding packages such as Pandas and Scikit Learn and API protocols
  • Ability to develop in SQL syntax
  • Model lifecycle Management
  • Innate passion for identifying cause and effect in data
  • Ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding

Bonus Points if You Have the Following:

  • Experience in Time-series data
  • Manufacturing industry experience
  • Agile/SCRUM experience
  • Previous experience providing 24/7/365 support within an operational environment
  • Experience with multiple DCS/PLC platforms including Rockwell PLC RSLogix, Novatech D/3
  • Advanced user in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced user in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred
  • Azure DevOPs and AzureML are a plus
  • AVEVA/OSISoft PI data historian is a plus
