ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a talented person who demonstrates:

  • Expertise in SQL is mandatory (Teradata experience is a plus)
  • Strong hands-on capability in general programming is mandatory (Python and/or R)
  • Expertise in Advanced Analytics, including but not limited to machine learning methods (supervised and unsupervised learning), regression modelling, time series analytics etc. Deep-Learning is a good plus but not mandatory.
  • Data visualisation and dashboarding is a strong plus
  • Big data platform experience (Hadoop/ Hive/ Spark etc) and Cloud platform experience is highly regarded (Azure experience is a strong plus)
  • Customer Marketing & Analytics experience is highly desirable
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skill
  • Strong experience in project management and associated tooling (e.g., Confluence, JIRA, Microsoft Planner)Strong presenting to various audiences

Responsibilities:

Full-time permanent position as Data Scientist in Advanced Analytics team within Chief Brand & Marketing Office of Westpac Group in Sydney.

You are responsible for the delivery of data science projects and bespoke analytical solutions that help Westpac to optimise marketing performance, improve customer engagement, and maximise commercial value. You will work with a wide range of stakeholders to identify opportunities to apply advanced analytical techniques and drive data-driven decision making.

  • Lead the end-to-end development and deployment of high impact data science projects
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of data pipelines, predictive models, and segmentation strategies
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand the challenges that they face, and propose analytical solutions to help them meet their goals and objectives
  • Conduct analysis of various datasets to extract insights that can support informed decision-making
  • Communicate complex technical content, insights, project outcomes and recommendations to various audiences, including senior executives
  • Apply a test-and-learn framework to quickly prove or disprove hypotheses, and scale up successful initiatives
  • Support and mentor wider team members about advanced analytics
  • Effectively manage risk by adhering to team risk controls and organisational risk mitigation policies
