Description:

As a Data Scientist you will be responsible for working with the Clinical and Engineering teams in developing clinical solutions for next-generation patient monitoring products. This role is responsible for researching physiological challenges while creating, testing, and implementing algorithms for detection of various pathological conditions from vital-signs and other physiological signal sources. This role requires expert knowledge of data analytics, experience in physiological algorithmic development, expert capabilities in research and problem solving, and strong programming skills.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Data or Mathematical Sciences, Computational Life Sciences or similar. Graduate experience is preferred.
  • Expertise in Python, R, or MATLAB preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or equivalent.
  • High level of attention to detail and background in biology and applied mathematics.
  • Experience in statistical modeling/algorithmic development in product development.
  • Knowledge of optimization routines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and high level of proficiency in the English language.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Experience with Data Focused Languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, or SQL.
  • Understanding of basic electronics and related data acquisition and management techniques.
  • Development experience in a regulated industry, such as overseen by the FDA.
  • Practical experience in executing code releases, design-phase transitions, and quality reviews.
  • Experience developing with a modern Software Version Control System, such as Git.
  • Knowledge of the principles of physiology and biological signal processing/acquisition.
  • Graduate degree preferred.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fast-Paced, high-volume office environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Work requires travel to meetings, site visits, and experiment sites.
  • Proficient use of office equipment including computers, copiers, fax machines, and telephones.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,

Teams).

  • Ability to communicate effectively via spoken, written and electronic means.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the data science team to help solve clinical challenges through algorithmic development of statistical and mathematical models for new and ongoing projects
  • Prepare mathematical analyses of engineering and physiological projects which may include clinical research, preliminary system design specifications, and verification and validation (V&V) testing.
  • Develop, design, and integrate mathematical, statistical, and ML model processes and/or products for new product or process development, or for modifications to existing products or processes.
  • Utilize mathematical modeling software and/or data processing programs, to guide pre-development and optimization of signal processing and waveform component derivations, processing limitations, and other tangible engineering components.
  • Contribute to clinical publications involving complex principles of mathematical modeling involving physiological responses.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to review data, optimize functional systems, and implement changes in line with modeling requirements.
  • Complete other duties as assigned, related to the development and optimization of medical devices.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compile reviews of research for signal characterization to guide product development for solving clinical challenges.
  • Work independently in an agile environment as well as with others within an engineering development team.
  • Develop software solutions in line with the regulated medical device industry under a quality management system.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
