QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years of experience in software development
  • Expert knowledge of MS PowerBI, MS Excel, MS PowerPivot, MS PowerView,;
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in developing / programming in databases (Access, SQL), and (MS Visio) and ETL programs (Workato, SSIS)
  • Advanced knowledge with MS Office 2010, 2013, and 365 (Word, Excel, Power Point) and MS SharePoint;
  • Adept at queries, report and procedure writing and presenting findings;
  • Technical expertise regarding data models development, data mining, data warehousing and segmentation techniques;
  • Background in designing analytics portals / dashboards, metrics, and reports with various user interfaces;
  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science,
  • Undergraduate Degree in Industrial Engineering or Statistics with significant programming skills in MS SQL and VBA is preferred;
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages (R Studio is preferred / company application) for analyzing large datasets would be an asset;
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and perform independently with minimal supervision;
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Strong data related analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills;
  • Proven ability to problem solve and deliver high quality solutions on time in a fast paced environment;
  • Exceptional collaborative skills – a team player;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports directly to the Manager, Planning and Analytics
  • Key relationships include: All team members in the department and PMs across / clients across the Pipeline Core Programs Division

Responsibilities:

  • Data administration, integrity, management, and analysis for all aspects of the department’s data as required by management;
  • Creation and / or implementation of new systems, reports, and data integration;
  • Expectation to independently, manage a multitude of data sources in a controlled and efficient manner and directly resolve issues, with little oversight;
  • Responsible for data collection, compilation and management processes development and implementation; and
  • Required to work on multiple requests concurrently and be able to prioritize and meet target service levels.
  • Lead in the development of application (SQL & VBA) and implementation of current estimating tools / programs;
  • Lead / assist in data integration across the department and other department and Business Units – integrating data from company data sources, (eDig, Dig Tracker (and various other sharepoint sites), PACMAN, Oracle, EcoSys, etc.,
  • Establish, create, and maintain reports on department data integrity from the various data sources used by the department in PowerBI;
  • Work with the team on identifying gaps in data and recommend solutions to management;
  • Ensure extraneous, wrong, or duplicate data is identified removed and / or corrected (and identify systemic issues to management);
  • Work with other departments to help improve the interface of data sent between departments to reduce the overall amount of time the company expands on data management;
  • Assist /lead in the development, analysis, and data warehousing of construction scope and cost metrics;
  • Setting up a system or warehouse of program construction and cost metrics;
  • Analyzing and vetting data that are used for metrics, removing erroneous data from the analysis;
  • Create or update existing forms of data collection systems in the pertinent software platforms (MS SQL or other) to improve and streamline data collection and storage as requested by management;
  • Provide technical guidance and business intelligence know-how in addressing business needs;
  • Responsible for the code / scripts that extract, transform, clean, & move data from various data sources in the department into PowerBI and MS SQL (or other software platforms such as a “low code app” used by the department);
  • Identify and develop new reports and / or analysis (self-identified improvements) for the department;
  • Communicate effectively and frequently with department / client personnel as their requests are being fulfilled; be responsive and available to client concerns, issues, feedback, and questions;
  • Identify and recommend on frequency of data updates for department information sources;
  • Perform system tests and quality assurance activities on reports and data sources;
  • Create and deliver end-user training & documentation as required;
  • Develop / create an information data collection approach / system and process for non-standard or new work executed by the department to allow the scope to be included in current department reporting;
  • Develop and write new (or update existing) department processes and procedures to improve information and data management for the department;
