Responsibilities:

  • Provide database technical leadership across a 70 person strong full stack development team.
  • Design and implement the database strategy for a global multi-tenant cloud based SaaS solution, with a focus on quality, performance, reliability, security and cost.
  • Provide database architectural input and guidance across multiple development teams and projects.
  • Engage with teams providing input to application and database design, delivery of working code samples and framework level changes, as well as mentoring and code review.
  • Work through support and performance issues, identifying bottlenecks and optimisation opportunities in both application code and SQL.
  • Solve, hand on, complex database related coding problems. Through your work, set the standard for the wider team.
  • Work closely with the operations team, providing input on server deployment, configuration, scaling and management; performance metrics and monitoring; and the management of database health.
  • Work with senior team members on projects such as: utilise additional cloud native technologies; improve the integration of database structure into source control; separate database upgrades from code deployment; and improve the end to end build, test and deployment pipeline.
  • Other related duties assigned as needed.
