Championing databases across a hybrid landscape within the business, you will be responsible for the build, deployment, maintenance and support of application databases, as well as contributing to improvements in database standards, procedures and best practices within the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • An active listener, you bring a collaborative mindset, partnering with the broader technology teams for the performance, integrity, and security of our databases.
  • Application Database - Design, Build and Run.
  • Manage Application Database systems (on-prem + cloud) that are maintained and supported by DevOps and extended teams.
  • Ongoing monitoring, evaluation & analysis of the database environments to provide optimum performance.
  • Database Management and Automation - COTS Systems.
  • Lead the resolution & delivery of transformation programs and BAU demand items related to databases.
  • Maintenance of application environments including creation/setup of new environments, environment refresh, Parity, and integrity of environments.
  • Lead the deployment automation of systems.
  • Collaboration & Support - spanning cross-functional teams, to understand business requirements and priorities.
  • Work closely with engineering, system administrators, and project managers to support business initiatives and projects.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a Database Administrator capacity
  • MS SQL Server (2014, 2016, 2019, 2022) experience
  • Strong understanding of database design principles, normalisation, indexing, and query optimisation.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems in a range of environments, both on-prem and cloud (Azure, AWS).
  • Experience in business system functional analysis as it pertains to databases, data governance and data maintenance.
  • Capable in Database replication technologies (Database Mirroring, Log Shipping)
  • Proficient in Automation, SQL tuning and scripting experience using PL/SQL, Unix, Shell Scripting, NoSQL and Ansible.
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining database scripts such as stored procedure, views, etc.
  • Knowledge of data security best practices, encryption, access controls, and backup and recovery procedures.
  • Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience in database performance monitoring and observability tools like New Relic, Splunk etc.
  • Understanding of DevOps tools and technologies such as JIRA, Confluence, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Database tuning of open-source RDBMS (e.g., Firebird).
  • Data lake and Data factory experience.
  • Proficient in scripting in other programming languages such as .NET, JAVA, Python or Go.
