Description:
Position: Database Test Engineer - Manual/Automation
Location: Ft. Collins, CO or Reston, VA, Remote (near a USDA facility)
ASRC Federal Highland Technology is actively seeking a Database Test Engineer to join our team and support development efforts for a government client. Position is available in Fort Collins, CO or Reston, VA or Remote (near a USDA Facility).
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Must be knowledgeable and experienced as a Database Administrator and Test Engineer for testing complex databases, understand quality assurance standards, interpretation of product requirements, test plan development, test case development, and develop and implement test automation. Candidates will require excellent critical thinking skills, along with the ability to use their testing experience to make sound, common sense judgment calls during the testing process.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- SQL Server 2016+ T-SQL development experience
- Familiarity with one or more version control systems such as Git, Subversion, or SourceSafe
- Ability to performance tune T-SQL queries
- Verified experience in: Black box testing, White box testing, boundary testing, negative testing, functional and regression testing.
- Experience testing in a large data warehouse environment
- Test Plan and Test Case Development based on software engineering documentation (testing based on product requirements)
- Experience with reporting of test results
- Experience with commercial bug management systems such as Jira
- Excellent analytical and problem determination skills
- The ability to effectively communicate and work independently on a team

U.S. Citizenship or Green Card with 3 year residence requirement
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Computer Science or related technology/engineering degree
- Experience with SQL Server Database Design and Administration
- At least one year of hands-on experience with creation of test plans, development and execution of test cases and reporting and dissemination of test results.
- 1+ years of Database administration experience
DESIRED SKILLS:
- SQL Server 2016+ Administrative skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio database projects
- Ability to write robust functional and regression tests for T-SQL views, stored procedures, and functions
- Experience testing in a SAFe/Agile development environment
- Experience with a centralized agile life cycle management system such as Jira
- Experience using a document management system, such as Confluence, to document test planning and reporting

Responsibilities:
- Support database testing efforts for specific application project teams
- Work with automated TFS and Jenkins based CI/CD pipelines to deploy Visual Studio database solutions to multiple environments
- Build robust functional, and regression tests as part of a SQL Server value pipeline
- Troubleshoot database issues in multiple environments as part of a highly collaborative team
- Participate in SAFe ceremonies, including Product Increment (PI) planning. Contribute to maintaining Project Backlogs are required
- Create test plans and test cases
- Defect reporting and tracking
