Description:

The Day Surgery Team Leader for Admissions and Discharge will monitor and assist in the delivery of patient care and provide appropriate clinical and managerial leadership throughout the department.
You will manage a growing team of skilled practitioners, providing care to patients attending theatres for minor to major reconstructive surgery. You will have a flexible, enthusiastic approach to managing this busy unit.

The post holder will lead the team and facilitate the provision of a coordinated, high quality service in the following surgical specialities:

  • Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Plastic Surgery including major reconstruction
  • Hand surgery
  • Ophthalmics, including corneal grafts
  • Burns for reconstructive surgery
  • Hand Trauma Unit

You will act as a role model and mentor to clinical staff providing advice and support to others to promote good practice consistent with our trust values and policies. You will encourage, develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self, making patient safety and positive outcome the teams priority. You will ensure that Clinical Governance and Risk management are embedded within daily practice and promote excellence.

Responsible for providing a high level of clinical and managerial leadership to the department. Demonstrate a leading by example style of leadership with clinical credibility maintaining visibility and accessibility to both staff and patients, including undertaking direct patient care. Responsible for the line management of the team whilst ensuring they maintain evidence based clinical competence to provide safe high quality care to patients.
