DCS AUTOMATION/CONTROLS ENGINEER

My client is one of the leading employers of choice in Ireland. Based in Limerick, we require a DCS Automation/Controls Engineer with experience configuring and maintaining Honeywell platforms. (GE’s Mark VI technology) The ideal engineer, ideally from a heavy industrial environment, will have project management and extensive process controls/automation systems experience.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum undergraduate degree in chemical, electrical, automation, or mechanical engineering is required.
  • Process or process controls engineering experience
  • Demonstrable expertise in the configuration/maintenance of the following control platforms;
  • Honeywell TPN/TPS DCS systems
  • Honeywell Fail Safe Controller/Safety Manager
  • Honeywell Field Device Manager/PHD/Uniformance
  • Experience in the PI Data Historian, GE’s Mark VI Control platform and Rockwell/Siemens PLC’s would be a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

This role will focus on automation systems for a large, heavy industrial site in Limerick. Onsite, there is an extensive Distributed Control System (DCS), PLCs, Safety Control Systems, and specialist automation systems for power generation assets.
The DCS Team provides process control engineering support for plant operations and capital projects. The team also ensures process control objectives are met through tuning, developing control strategies, and troubleshooting existing multi-variable control configurations for continuous operations in refinery process units.
You will work with a variety of departments, including Operations, Process Engineering, Reliability Engineering and Maintenance as well as outside consultants and vendors.

THE ROLE

  • Bringing new levels of automation to the plant and maximising the utilisation of existing systems.
  • Participating in teams to support the plant activities such as process unit alarm management defect elimination, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Management of Change (MOC).
  • Designing and deploying leading-edge solutions (proven experience is essential)
  • The automation of systems to reduce or remove physical interventions and improve safety.
  • Problem-solving, data modelling, and project management would all be key elements of the position.
  • Future-proofing existing Process Controls Infrastructure (DCS, PLCs and advanced instrumentation).
  • Identifying, developing and deploying cyber protection solutions to all automation infrastructure.
