POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Deckhand will assist in handling all product, equipment, and gear, as well as spreading seed and any other tasks as needed. The deckhands are responsible for learning/knowing the specific farms they work on and must be able to communicate harvest details during transport from beach to plant. Shipments must all be properly labeled. A drivers license and drivers abstract are required, along with a Washington State boater’s license. Employee must complete the Taylor Shellfish boater’s safety training/orientation.

Responsibilities:

  • Will be required to tend to the loading and unloading of the boat.
  • Will be responsible for making sure that loads are placed properly on the truck.
  • Must be able to spread seed and transplant evenly/consistently.
  • Must make sure everything is being done to enhance the shellfish beds as needed.
  • Must help the skipper watch for any hazards.
  • Must properly secure boat when it is needed and at the end of each shift.
  • Must help with the maintenance and cleanliness of the boat.
  • Must do any other boat activities that the skipper requires assistance with.
  • Must be able to work tides as required.
  • Must report to Skipper for daily duties.
  • Will be required to work at the sites/locations that the boat is assigned.
  • May be required to do other tasks as needed.
