The NRU reactor was shut down in 2018 but still requires frequent technical support. Ongoing operations, facility changes, maintenance and repair of mechanical services and equipment, as well as compliance with relevant programs and standards, all require technical input.
Although not yet undergoing decommissioning, NRU is part of the CRL Facilities Decommissioning branch, and so this technical role is filled by Decommissioning Specialists.
The NRU Decommissioning Specialist(s) are accountable to the Facility Authority / Facility Manager for supporting the facility, while ensuring that documents and practices are in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
What will you be doing!
Gather, analyze, and assemble a variety of technical information from CNL legacy drawings, reports, logs and walk-downs.
Provide oversight of operators and trades in the field.
Prepare technical and operational documents that meet regulatory and site requirements.
Assist with the creation and execution of maintenance work plans and packages.
Act as technical lead to resolve abnormal conditions and equipment performance.
Work closely with design engineering, environmental, waste, and other on-site groups to support facility requirements.
Assist FA (Facility Authority)/FM (Facility Manager) with response/reporting/investigating of abnormal events.
Other duties as assigned by your manager.
EXPERIENCE:
Operational industrial electrical, steam heating, and ventilation systems.
Knowledge of systems, structures and components associated with large industrial or nuclear facilities.
Experience in a nuclear operational or decommissioning environment would be an asset.
Existing NRU experience would be an asset.
EDUCATION:
Honours Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applied science from a university of recognized standing and the ability to become a Member of a Provincial professional engineering association (i.e. PEO).
