Description:

APPRENTICESHIP

The apprenticeship will provide the successful candidate with a LLB degree and support you through the new pathway to qualification by completion of the Solicitors Qualifying Exams (SQE1 and SQE2).
The apprenticeship will provide you with the best learning and development opportunities for you to qualify as a solicitor.
Delivered by our chosen training provider, UCLan, the apprentice will undertake off-the-job study via attendance at university, with the four remaining days gaining the required work-based experience.
The degree apprenticeship will be a challenging path to qualification, so we are looking for those who are passionate about the law and committed to a legal career. You will need to show that you are a resilient individual, who exhibits our core values, with the drive and determination to succeed for our clients.

The apprenticeship is based within the Crime Team and the role will be responsible for delivering successful outcomes such as:

  • Handling a varied case load of criminal matters, including legal aid work;
  • Drafting and responding to proceedings in the magistrates and crown courts;
  • Provision of written and verbal advice;
  • Communications with client, opponents, Courts and third parties to progress files;
  • Supporting the Head of Department and other Advisors on their own cases, and the delivery of the departmental strategy and business objectives;
  • Ensuring compliance with internal and external business requirements including LAA, ISO:9001 quality control, SRA Principles / Code of Conduct, Court deadlines;
  • Monitoring and reporting on own financial and business performance to deliver work in a profitable manner;
  • Contributing towards internal continuous improvement, innovation and knowledge sharing;
  • Inter-departmental support and collaboration on joint files, projects and events;
  • Contributing to the development of the departmental business plan;
  • Building positive relationships with current/prospective clients and enhancing the firms profile, to drive business growth;
  • Contributing to business development including articles/newsletters, Chambers & Legal 500 submissions, etc;
  • Legal research to keep up to date with case law and legislation in order to construct a robust defence for clients;

Responsibilities:

ROLE

The Crime Team have an exciting opportunity for an aspiring Solicitor to join the team on a Crime focused Degree Apprenticeship with the incorporation of the SQE 1 and 2.
This a full-time role working 36.25 hours per week, Monday- Friday, based between our Blackburn and Preston offices, with weekly attendance required at University to undertake study.
