We’re excited to have been selected as Preferred Tenderer for the Victorian Road Maintenance Contract (Metro) – South Central Region!
Starting in July this year, we’ll be working across Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs and right down the Mornington Peninsula, delivering routine maintenance, emergency response and defect rectification works, as well as network refurbishment and upgrade projects, under a major long-term contract with the Victorian Government.

How You’ll Contribute:
As a member of the VRMC Contract Leadership Team (CLT), the Delivery Manager oversees safe, compliant and efficient completion of all VRMC Works in accordance with the Routine Maintenance Program and Planned Works Program, as set by the Planning & Optimisation team.

Specifically, the Delivery Manager is accountable for:

  • Engaging, onboarding, training, developing and retaining a high-performing Works Delivery team comprising both Service Stream employees and delivery partner (subcontractor) personnel, supporting commitments for workforce diversity, social procurement and local industry development
  • Working closely with the Asset Management Lead and Pre-Works Lead to prioritise Defect Rectification Works and Planned Works for Section 750 compliance and best network performance for available budget
  • Completing Works in line with Contract KPIs for safety, cost, timeliness, quality, and environmental management
  • Establishing and maintaining all depot operations, materials, plant and equipment requirements
  • Developing, implementing and continually improving Delivery function processes and procedures to drive service performance outcomes
  • Fostering strong working relationships with CLT colleagues and the wider VRMC team, client representatives, delivery partners, and other internal and external stakeholders.

The Delivery Manager is a potential successor to the Contract Manager and will have regular opportunities perform this role in an Acting capacity, as part of a structured career development program.
About You:
You’ll have at least five (5) years’ experience in senior leadership roles focused on delivering long-term maintenance and capital/project works programs with annual budgets > $30 million, in directly relevant industries such as civil engineering, road construction / maintenance, resources or heavy manufacturing.

A seasoned, inclusive and highly visible leader who makes best-for-Contract decisions, champions safety, diversity and inclusion, and implements change by taking people on a journey, you’ll demonstrate:

  • Detailed knowledge of civil construction and/or road network management practices, including access, permit and licensing requirements for road maintenance operations
  • A drive for service excellence, underpinned by extensive experience managing internal workforces and delivery partners to deliver services to specification, program and cost
  • A track record of fostering workforce diversity and engaging local organisations, including social enterprises and Aboriginal Businesses, to deliver services
  • Advanced project and program management skills: highly organised and deadline-oriented, with a strong cost control focus
  • A proactive lead-indicator approach to minimising quality, safety and environmental risks and incidents

Formal qualifications in engineering or construction management, project / program management and/or process/operational improvement methodologies are a bonus, but not essential if you can demonstrate equivalent capability and experience.
