Description:
Introduction
We are seeking a DEM (Discrete Element Modeling) Scientist to join our team. You will be responsible for using numerical simulations to improve our designs, creating 3D virtual prototypes and testing at multiple settings to achieve the expected output at optimum conditions, scaling DEM simulations from laboratory-scale experiments to real-world applications and calibrating DEM models to match real-world behavior as validating simulations against experimental data are crucial for model accuracy. In this position, you will report to Principal Scientist, Manager.
This position is mainly located in York, PA but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. however, it involves up to 20% travel.
Team you belong to
You will join a team of DEM scientists dedicated to using numerical simulations extensively to improve our designs, creating 3D virtual prototypes and testing at multiple settings to achieve the expected output at optimum conditions. The members in our team are located in York, PA.
What you’ll do
Work as simulation specialist in the minerals digital team, addressing the specific processes& software development and troubleshooting needs
Develop code for in-house numerical simulation codebase, particularly DEM
Contribute to process & equipment development by numerical simulation of processes and equipment design
Setup advanced models based on multiphysics/multi-dimensional computer simulation(s)
Support experimental data analysis and simulation results testing and implementation
Handling of specific customer requirements in terms of failure mode analysis and new developments by means of finite elements – based computer simulation
Who you are
The candidate must have or is about to obtain a PhD degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering (or a similar discipline) or MSc. in computer science.
Experience in developing and applying discrete element method (DEM) codes and models, or similar, is expected.
Proficiency in the field of numerical simulations, e.g. DEM, FEM, SPH
Proficiency in .NET programming languages (C/C++, C#, VB, F#) - sound programming skills; knowledge of MATLAB, Python or any related language is a plus
Experience with cloud computing, knowledge of CUDA GPU coding is a plus
Knowledge of commercial Multiphysics simulation software (e.g. COMSOL or ANSYS) represents an advantage.
What’s in it for you
Wellbeing and safety - benefit from occupational healthcare, generous benefits plan, healthy living rewards, mental well-being services, on-site gym, meal benefits, car/bicycle benefits, and engagement surveys.
Annual bonus - global incentive programs tied to business and performance targets.
