Description:

This is a newly created post that will be a part of the Trauma and Orthopaedic Care Group within the Division of Surgery at the Aintree site.
The post-holder will support our acute orthopaedic wards to facilitate a high standard of enhanced care for our dementia patients to ensure a robust and holistic hospital admission.
The post-holder will contribute to the delivery of patient’s individual care under the direction and supervision of the Ward Manager with additional support from the Dementia and Delirium Team. Whilst completing this, the post-holder will assist with all aspects of the patient’s care including moving and handling, personal hygiene and dietary needs.
The successful candidate will be covering a 7 day service and will work with other Dementia Support Workers to ensure the service is covered across the 3 ward areas Monday - Sunday.

To assist the staff in the delivery of direct patient care.
To undertake skilled nursing support activities for which training and competency assessment has been undertaken.
To assist the nursing staff in maintaining patients well-being and dignity in a safe environment and in maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
To understand and adhere to all relevant trust policies and procedures.
To demonstrate good communication skills when dealing with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team utilising sensitivity, empathy and ability to manage conflict.
To perform, understand and report patient risk assessments e.g. Nutritional assessment scores, Falls Assessment, Moving and Handling, Pressure Area assessment and Bed Rail risk Assessment.
Report any concerns regarding patient’s well-being or safety to the nurse in charge.
It is the responsibility of any member of staff who becomes aware of either a clinical or non-clinical incident to escalate immediately to the registered nurse.
To understand the principles of the Friends and Family Test/patient experience feedback and how it is used to improve and maintain an excellent patient experience.
Assist in orientating patients and visitors to the ward environment.
Ensure compliance with all aspects of Infection Control, Isolation and Food Hygiene policies.
