Description:

The post holder(s) will be part of the team at the Dental Teaching Unit Porth, responsible for providing a high standard of care, demonstrating strong clinical dental nursing skills. Working with the Senior Dental Nurse of the unit to provide an efficient and effective service ensuring Health and Safety and cross infection policies are met and maintained.
A high level of communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work as part of a team. Successful applicants will have responsibility for ensuring standards are always met and will be required to be able to deal with pressure with a positive attitude and possess a professional and flexible approach to their work.
The Dental Teaching Unit works with the Local Health Board and HEIW to improve, facilitate and develop dental health care services to patients of the local area.
The candidate(s), will be a qualified, registered Dental Nurse, required to work with newly qualified dentists, providing support to the dental team in providing efficient and effective care to patients.
Maintain high standards and have a good knowledge of cross infection control in line with HTM 01-05.
The post holder will be expected to work across the Primary Care salaried dental service clinics in all localities, and be expected to travel in a timely manner and on occasions at short notice to cover service demands.
The post holder will need to be flexible, resourceful and keen to demonstrate a distinctive contribution to the multidisciplinary team.

organisation of the surgery and ensure accurate preparation and presentation of appropriate materials and equipment using a high degree of precision.
Provide chair-side assistance and fourhanded dentistry when required throughout the patient’s treatment, anticipating the clinician’s needs and any possible complications which may arise.
Achieve and maintain high standards of infection control, PPE and cleanliness in line with current codes of practice.
Professionally responsible for the safe disposal of clinical waste in accordance with the Health Board’s infection control policy.
Assistance in the management of medical and dental emergencies if required.
Participate in ordering and maintaining clinical stock levels.
Responsible for chaperoning patients and staff.
Answering queries in person and by telephone
Arrange appointments, planning suitable case for appropriate sessions.
Provide advice on a wide range of dental procedures, adjusting information as required addressing patients’ level of understanding.
To manage own workload efficiently, organise routine and access sessions.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
