ESSENTIAL SKILLS YOU’LL NEED

  • Senior management experience of managing large teams Experience working in a management role in Distribution / Warehouse environment with knowledge of working with warehouse management systems
  • Extensive knowledge of Health and Safety legislation Experience of dealing with full disciplinary procedures

Desired skills you’ll need

  • Previous experience in a Warehousing/Logistics Management role
  • Technical knowledge of logistics management
  • Knowledge of automated systems
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS)
  • Good working knowledge of IT Systems (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, emails)
  • Previous experience of managing a large team in a fast-moving, customer focused environment

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Department Manager Warehouse Operations you will need to develop effective relationships with line reports and empower them to take ownership for their operational success and personal development. Demonstrate outstanding leadership to deliver commercial success while achieving all site KPIs within the context of the Partnership’s core principles and behaviours.
This is a demanding role in a key operational site that would best suit a results orientated individual who is able to engage multiple stakeholders. One of the main functions of the role will be the ability to liaise with different departments and Partners to negotiate the best outcome for everyone involved. The role would suit someone who is analytical, organised and strong in time management. Strong people management skills and the ability to engage and influence at all levels is essential.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Manage Resource within their team and wider operation, including training and recruitment needs, to ensure appropriate level of resource to meet operational demand.
  • Development and support the peak trading strategy and contingency plans for handling peak volume.
  • Provide timely and accurate analysis to provide Partner and stakeholder understanding and enable tactical and strategic decision making
  • Develop and maintain relationships within the supply chain network
  • Ensure Department KPIs are met, by challenging line reports to consistently achieve them through their teams
  • Maximise the utilisation of the operation to create efficiencies, whilst defining improvement activity around management information systems (MIS)
  • Encourage C.I. within their team and business unit, continually striving to achieve more
  • Encourage Managers to empower their teams by providing opportunities for growth by setting stretching targets
  • Apply Health & Safety standards within the working environment and promote a culture of safety throughout the site
