Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

The Deputy/ Appointee and ASC finance team leader will manage a team that undertakes the Borough’s duties as Court of Protection Deputy and DWP Appointee, managing the property & financial affairs of Clients who have differing levels of mental incapacity. You will also manage the Adult Social Care finance team whose responsibility it is to charge residents for community and Residential/ Nursing care. This also includes the payment of invoices from our suppliers of care. You will be managing a team of 8 reporting to the Service Lead for Benefits Assessment and Social Care Finance.

YOUR ROLE WILL INVOLVE:

  • Ensuring that the service is delivered and developed in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Court of Protection and Department of Work and Pensions legislation and guidelines and the Borough’s Safeguarding Adults procedures, as well as best practice and Service Standards.
  • Managing a team of people who have responsibility for clients’ finances including bank accounts and completing detailed and complex applications for state benefit entitlements on behalf of our clients, whilst maintaining a sound knowledge of benefit legislation
  • Liaising with our Social Services team to undertake applications to the Court of Protection. Ensuring overall team awareness of financial abuse and issues in relation to financial vulnerability.
  • Managing the front-line service to residents in the Borough, working with a challenging and demanding client base. Ensuring clients are visited in line with the standards set by the Court of protection.
  • Managing the prompt and accurate invoicing of residents in receipt of care in line with the Boroughs charging policies and the prompt accurate payment of suppliers of that care.
