About the role
The primary purpose of the position is to assist the Director Health Information Management in the management and provision of Health Information Management services, and act as an expert professional consultant in all areas of Health Information Management.
The role is responsible for providing high level strategic management, advice and support to the Release of Information, Data Quality, Information Management, and HIMS Administration teams ensuring timeliness and quality of data, through conducting organisation-wide education/information sharing relating to patient information system usage.
About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • High level of expertise and experience in the management, administration and technical aspects of hospital information systems, including extraction, interpretation and provision of patient information.
  • High level of expertise and knowledge of the administrative requirements (legislation, regulations, policies and procedures) for management of patient information (inclusive of Release of Information), and high-level expertise and knowledge of health informatics as it applies to current and future healthcare information management developments.
  • High level commitment to quality improvement and expertise and experience in project management and the implementation and maintenance of quality management activities in relation to patient data.
  • High level responsibility and initiative, effective negotiation, consultative and interpersonal skills, as well as high level written and oral communication skills, including experience in preparing and delivering educational material, and a proven constructive participation in multidisciplinary project teams and committees.
  • Involvement in and commitment to professional development, research, development of staff, and experience in management of staff and resources.
  • Ability to actively participate in a working environment by leading and supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Tertiary qualification in Health Information Management.
  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
